division
the splitting of the self has weakened us individually,
just the way dividing us as a society has weakened us as humanity.
making us susceptible to control.
it has happened over centuries, over generations.
time needed to erase memories, instill fear, and build hierarchies
of right and wrong.
mind over body.
master over slave.
give your full self to god's will.
white over black.
man over woman.
married over single.
straight over gay.
winners over losers.
good over evil.
light over shadows.
rich over poor.
creating internal turmoil trying to shatter and shrink ourselves to fit in a rule book of binaries,
predefined roles of the correct way to live, always up for reinterpretation.
with no in-betweens other than shame, fear, and eventually hate of what isn't conforming.
what doesn't fit.
even when that non conformity is within ourselves.
self hate. manifested.
people broken into bits and pieces, reflected in a world broken into bits and pieces.
instead of accepting that all of these idiosyncrasies exist.
exist in the world.
exist in each person.
on spectrums, in different amounts, expressed in different ways.
self acceptance, self love.
acceptance of humanity, love of humanity.
accepting, appreciating the breadth of differences immediately dissolves the hierarchies.
allowing us to come back together as a whole person,
to get to know ourselves,
allowing us to come back together as humanity,
open to knowing others as they are,
not judging or criticizing based on ability to perform and adhere to a list of approved regulations.
love as acceptance doesn't fit in a world of ranking and this or that.
it is the choice, the decision we must make individually.
the acceptance of ourselves, as we are right now,
or exist in constant competition, judging ourselves and others
on some arbitrary scale that is always shifting based on the whims
of whoever we're told knows best.
